Sandra Carson and Effren Denson are Tampa Natives and the owners of WeVegan Eats. Their journey all started because they couldn't find a vegan cookie that they actually enjoyed when deciding to go plant based. As their search became fruitless they decided to perfect their own recipe, going through trial and error until they found one they loved. In November '17 they sold their very first batch of cookies at a farmer's market, it was a hit with the crowd and they never looked back. What started as a fun side hustle pop up at local markets turned into a thriving wholesale business, providing numerous vegan cookies and breads to coffee shops, delis and restaurants all over the bay area. Then as Covid hit the restaurant industry hard, the couple took a risk and made the bold choice to shift their business model to online retail. Where once there were long lines at their table at markets, now they had orders for their delicious baked goods all across the country. This successful pivot to e-commerce sales enabled them to take the next step in their evolution and open their very first Brick and Mortar "WeVegan Cafe" located in South Tampa, the neighborhood they grew up in. That journey to make one delectable vegan chocolate chip cookie has now broadened to a bustling vegan cafe that specializes in craft coffee, and homemade baked goods, along with both hot and ready, and grab and go breakfast and lunch items 7 days a week.
